A Backstepping Control Strategy for Power System Stability Enhancement

Secure power system operation relies extensively on the analysis of transient stability and control. The dynamics involved in control are often complex nonlinear. Most currently existing works approach these frequent problems with nonlinear techniques, leading to a requirement for specific controller parameter adjustments. In veins, this paper proposes new method stabilizing electric systems, using backstepping by optimizing controller’s parameters. Jaya algorithm Genetic utilized as powerful meta-heuristic optimization technique search parameters an optimal controller. Improvement damping, stability, voltage regulation has been achieved minimizing integral time absolute error (ITAE) objective function. Numerical simulations SMIB under different fault conditions showed that proposed outperforms classical stabilizer (PSS) methods, reducing overshoots settling times eliminating steady-state errors. These findings highlight effectiveness its potential contribution development advanced techniques systems. suggested methods demonstrate superior performance, compared achieve reduction 27.5% overshoot 87% addition complete elimination static error.
